WWE - Elimination Chamber Roundup

ELIMINATION CHAMBER - Let me start off with simply saying… wow. What an incredible elimination chamber, from start to finish. Starting off with the women’s elimination chamber match where Naomi was brutally attacked by Jade Cargill, who made a triumphant and powerful return to action. Bianca Belair emerged victorious, securing a shot for the women’s title at Wrestlemania. After that match we saw the absolute heinous, brutal, hellish match between Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens.

This match was an emotional one between Zayn and Owens. Zayn for one was not the most healthy, he was eligible to fight but from the jump you could tell he was in pain in his neck area stemming throughout the entire match. Barbed wire chairs were involved, double-stacked tables, no rules applied, this is one of the most brutal matches we have seen in recent years. This takes us back to the days of Mankind, aka Mick Foley, who would do just about anything and put his body on the line for a win. Or for Shane McMahon who’s not afraid to jump off of the hell in a cell onto the announcer’s table…

Kevin Owens emerged victorious after a brutal beatdown on Sami Zayn, and just as Owens was walking off he came back for more ripping off the padding from the floor and moments before powerbombing Zayn onto the concrete floor… the voices were heard. BOOM! Randy Orton’s iconic, “I hear voices in my head…” as the crowd erupted on Orton’s return. It was an RKO party, Orton RKOing nearly everyone in his sight, and we thought we may see a patented punt from Orton on Owens, only to be stopped by a mob of security fans, which us fans were not happy to see. This will almost certainly be a continued feud that may end up at wrestlemania.

Onto the main event of the night… the men’s elimination chamber. John Cena’s farewell tour, and possible last way into Wrestlemania was here. Cena needed a win here but he had 5 other men he had to get through. Logan Paul, Seth Rollins, Damian Priest, Drew Mcintyre, and a decade long rival in CM Punk. The match was an incredibly tough and powerful match, multiple finishers were hit from all the superstars, Logan Paul flying from the top of the pod, Seth Rollins and his antics, there was so much great wrestling going on and us fans could not get enough of it. It came down to the final three where it was Seth Rollins, John Cena, and CM Punk. Rollins was the first to go after a couple swift moves from Cena and Punk teaming up against Rollins. Rollins who has incredible beef with Punk and wants to finish him curb stomps Punk into the steel and Cena takes advantage of him and puts Punk into the STF submission hold leading to Punk’s submission (He passed out).

John Cena, in his final Elimination Chamber, beat his decade long rival and will face Cody Rhodes at Wrestlemania. Cody Rhodes you may ask… he had a hard decision to make at the conclusion of the match. The Rock wanted his soul, Rhodes had to give an answer. In come the Rock and Rhodes, they get into the ring and here comes the madness. Cody Rhodes refuses to give his soul to the Rock, telling the rock to go f*&% himself. Absolute scenes and madness, it was poetic the way WWE has shifted from PG and glimpses of the attitude era were back! The crowd went nuts, cheering and chanting for RHodes who refused to give his soul to the Rock. Even John Cena embraced Rhodes in a delighted manner, that was until Cena’s demeanor changed. The Rock gave the signal to John, a slash of the throat, and bam history was made. After twenty or so years in the business, we saw the face of WWE, the golden child, the mega star, John Cena turn heel. John Cena hit Cody Rhodes with a low-blow, and it didn’t stop there a brutal assault from Cena, the Rock, and Travis Scott unfolded on Rhodes. Rhodes is terribly beaten as Cena and company walk out of the building. Cena’s heel arc is official here, Cena will go onto face Rhodes at Wrestlemania trying to make history to capture his 17th world title. Nobody saw the heel turn coming from Cena, especially in his last few months “ever” in a WWE ring.

This feud will take us throughout John’s final moments in his career, and all credit goes to Triple H and company who have yet again brought madness to the WWE universe for the best.
