Florida vs. auburn: A preview

FINAL FOUR, THE ALAMODOME – Quite possibly the two most well-rounded teams that were in the bracket this year. #1 Auburn vs. #1 Florida. The Gators and Tigers have been two of the top college basketball teams the entire season, powered by Walter Clayton Jr. and Johni Broome. These two teams met earlier in the year, with Florida taking a respective victory over Auburn, 90-81.

This is the Gators first Final Four since 2014, after nearly losing in upset fashion to #3 seeded Texas Tech in the Elite Eight. They survived with a final few minutes surge going on a 15-4 run.

The Tigers faced a very solid and powerful Michigan State program that was expected to possibly upset this game and even have good odds to win a national title. But the Tigers handled them and knocked them off in the Elite Eight of the South Region, with one of their most dominant performances of the year being the Spartans 70-64. This game highlighted their adversity, grit, and heart to come out on top.

Florida is favored at -150, while Auburn is at +125. Florida will look to cover the spread at -2.5. While the over/under is at 160.5.

The way I look at it here is this is anyone’s ball game. I think this will be a tighter match than Houston vs. Duke, and I can see either team coming out on top here. But Florida at -2.5 and -150 is great odds for a team that is more sound, powerful, and experienced. I believe Florida will come out on top, and will win this game 82-73 over the Tigers. I would stay clear away from the over/under, as this will be a super tight match and I do not see them covering the over/under. Even though their earlier SEC matchup in the year would have covered this 160.5, I do not believe we will see this, this late in March.

My national title championship game prediction is #1 Florida vs. #1 Houston.
