Missouri upsets alabama

The 15 ranked Missouri Tigers upset the number four ranked Alabama Crimson Tide 98-110 on Wednesday. The Tigers came into the matchup ranked fifteenth in the country with a 19-6 record.

Missouri came into play coming off of losses to their last two ranked opponents. Alabama came in off of a nine point loss to number one ranked Auburn that saw them drop from second to fourth in the NCAA rankings.

Missouri got the game started with a bang by going on a 12-0 run for the first 2:30. Trent Pierce and Anthony II both chipped in five points during the run.

Both teams went back and forth for the first half, but Missouri was able to hold the Crimson Tide. They brought the game within nine points with 12:15 left to go in the half, but were unable to get any closer. The first half ended at a 59-46 Missouri lead.

The Crimson Tide started climbing back in the second half. After a big three pointer from Mark Sears, they were now within six points with the score at 73-79.

The game continued going back and forth. Missouri had a 15 point lead at one point that dwindled down to just a six point lead with under a minute left to play. The late surge by the Crimson Tide proved not enough as the Tigers put up six unanswered points to end the game.

Alabama was led by senior guard Mark Sears who put up a season-high 35 points while also adding five assists. Sophomore forward Mouhamed Dioubate, and Sophomore guard Aden Holloway both produced double digit scoring performances off the bench for the Crimson Tide.

Junior guard Mark Mitchell led the Tigers with a career- high 31 point performance on 11-15 shooting. Four of the Tigers starters had at least ten points. Senior guard Caleb Grill provided a spark off of the bench for the Tigers as he had a double-double on 25 points and 10 rebounds.

The loss moved Alabama to third place in the SEC standings with a 10-3 record, while the Missouri win boosted them to fifth in the SEC standings with a 9-4 record.

Missouri will travel to Arkansas to take on the unranked Razorbacks on Saturday. The Crimson Tide host the number 17 ranked Kentucky Wildcats Saturday where they will attempt to halt their two game losing skid.
