Terence’s Record On the Line

After a long wait, the boxing world is finally blessed with the Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford matchup. With a staggering record of 62-2-2, Canelo looks to strip the zero from Terence’s incredible record of 42-0. Terence’s rare southpaw stance had him bursting onto the scene going back all the way to 2008. This matchup was bound to happen, two veterans of the sport, both who always are in the same conversation when it comes to dominance in the 21st century. Even with both fighters being on the back half of their careers at 36 and 34, this is still a dream matchup that every boxing fan was praying for. If it didn’t happen now, then when?

In an article from Mike Coppinger, this will be a title fight on September 13th, 2025 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Although there isn’t an official contract yet, Turki Alalshikh, the chairman of Saudi Arabia's General Entertainment Authority, is organizing the fight and will most certainly get the deal done.

Crawford has to move up two more weight classes, from his previous weight class jump, for this bout and that has people thinking that his speed will be prohibited. On top of that, there won’t be any catchweight or hydration clauses in the rumored contract. Also another wrench in this title bout is assumption that there are no significant injuries for Canelo’s next fight when he will be defending his title on Cinco De Mayo weekend. Once the contract is signed and more of the details are ironed out, I will write a follow up. For now boxing fans can embrace this moment in what will bring a lot of eyes to a sport that desperately needs it.
